We need your opinions on the proposal

With the news breaking last night (Wednesday May 5th) that the Lowland League has entered into discussions to invite Rangers and Celtic ‘B’ teams to enter the league for next season (2021/22) on a one-season basis we are giving our members, which constitute our season ticket holders, sponsors, committee and life members to chance to share their views on the proposal.

We have been given until Monday evening (3 working days) to give a "declaration of intent" on what way each club will vote, which doesn't give us much notice to gauge member opinion given lockdown constraints on gatherings still in place and the size of our membership. We therefore plan to host a series of conference calls over the next few days where we will present the document that was sent to us last night, and add some of our own thoughts and balance to allow our members to make an informed opinion on which way the club should vote.

We would ask our members as listed above who wish to join one of these calls to get in touch using the Contact form or send us an email and we will be in touch with a series of call dates and times to join. We would ask that members only join one call given the capacity constraints. If members can't join we will accept attendance by proxy but when getting in touch please declare which member you are joining on behalf of. If members can't, or simply don't want to join these calls we would still appreciate it if they could use one of the forms above to give their thoughts either way. Closing date for supporter comments back to us is Sunday May 9th at 15:00. This will allow us some time to react to either the acceptance or rejection of the proposal by our members, with a view to releasing the outcome on Monday ahead of the Lowland League board meeting later that evening.

Non season ticket holders also have the opportunity to get in touch with their views via the means above, but please bear in mind when expressing those opinions the limited information currently in the public domain. We would stress that we only want to hear the views of our supporters, but would encourage supporters of all Lowland League clubs to get in touch with their club on their feelings about the proposal. Email addresses for all clubs can be found by clicking on a club name in the league table on the Lowland League website.

One only needs to look at social media over the past few months when the proposal to add B teams into League 2 to understand that this is a highly emotive subject, with opinion widely split on the merits or otherwise on it. We realise that this is short notice, but we are a supporters club so as with most decisions of this magnitude we will leave it up to our members to decide in order to make sure that the decision we make is representative of our fan base, rather than the opinions of a few.
