Bonnyrigg Rose v Tranent FC
15:00/07 Nov 2026
Bonnyrigg Rose return to Lowland League East action this Saturday when they welcome high-flying Tranent FC to New Dundas Park for what promises to be an entertaining and fiercely contested encounter between these two sides.
With valuable league points at stake, the Rose will be determined to make home advantage count against an East Lothian outfit who have established themselves among the leading contenders in this season's League competition.
Manager Jonny Stewart has been having to contend with an increasing injury list for most of this season but will be hoping to start to get some players back as soon as possible.
“The Rose” have enjoyed some impressive home performances this campaign, including a commanding 6–1 victory over the University of Stirling in September.
However, recent league outings have proved more frustrating, with a 2–2 draw away to Cowdenbeath followed by a narrow 1–0 home defeat against Bo'ness United.
Last Saturday's trip to Thomson Park saw the Rose share the points with Lochee United, with Bonnyrigg Rose coming back twice in a 2-2 draw with goals from Lee Currie and Scott Robinson securing a hard-earned point.
Tranent arrive in Bonnyrigg on top of the League, having established themselves at the sharp end of the Lowland League East standings for most of this season.
The visitors have shown that they can score goals throughout the campaign, although their recent results have been mixed.
A 4–0 defeat to Lochee United and a 1–1 draw with Broxburn Athletic were followed by an emphatic 5–1 victory over Bo'ness United last Saturday.
League matches between these sides have been very close last season where Tranent claimed a 1–0 home victory in September 2025, before Bonnyrigg Rose reversed that result with a 1–0 success at New Dundas Park just before Christmas last year.
Manager Jonny Stewart previews this match -
These are the games you look forward to as a player, management staff and supporter.
Tranent at home is a fixture I’m sure everyone looks out for at the start of season and it’s a game we are all looking forward to.
There’s obviously a bit of rivalry between the clubs due to the connection of ex-players and managers and I’m sure that will add to the atmosphere.
Tranent are going well and are a good side with a top manager.
They are the team to catch at the moment and will come to NDP full of confidence.
I’m sure Robbie with have them pumped up for it.
We are on the back of 2 tough games especially midweek at home to Dunfermline, but the boys can take confidence from that performance.
I’m hopeful we will have 1 or 2 back from injury in time for Saturday.
Whatever team I put out, I have confidence that if they play to the capability then we can get a positive result.
As always, I’m sure the Rosie Posie faithful will be out in their numbers and can hopefully roar us onto 3 points!
