Ross began his career with Hamilton Academical, where he featured prominently at youth level, including appearances in the UEFA Youth League.After leaving Hamilton, he joined East Stirlingshire in 2020, becoming a key figure between the posts and making over 100 appearances across three seasons. In 2023, Connelly signed for Albion Rovers, where he was named in team of the season in both 2024 and 2025, before joining the Rose for season 2025/2026.
