Jonny Stewart made four changes to the starting lineup that hit Lochmaden for seven last Saturday. Reece Gaylor, Aidan Martin, Ross Gray and Mackenzie Scott were replaced by Neil Martyniuk, Kerr Young, Rudi Bryce and Laurie Devine.

Rose started the match with plenty of attacking intent and made the breakthrough after just five minutes.

After Berwick were only able to half-clear a corner, Lee Currie cut onto his left foot and delivered an in-swinging ball towards the back post. Kerr Young snuck into the penalty area and neatly glanced past Calum Antell for an early advantage.

Shortly after that, Jordan Smith was released by a ball over the top of the Berwick defence and found the back of the net with a clever lob - only to be denied by an offside flag.

Chances soon became few and far between. In spite of this Marc Anderson was on hand to deny Josh O’Connor twice, stretching to push away a dangerous flick and making a routine save from a low effort just inside the penalty box.

Rose doubled their advantage just before the interval. Taylor Hogarth burst forward from midfield and coolly slipped a ball in behind for Rudi Bryce, who buried a low finish under the Berwick keeper.

A second half filled with game management followed, and any hopes of a Berwick Rangers comeback were all but ended shortly after the hour mark.

Struan Mair lunged in late on Jordan Smith as the Rose striker looked to sneak in behind and was promptly shown a red card.

Jordan Smith came close to adding a third late on with a whipped free kick, but his effort was brilliantly tipped around the post by Antell.

A 2-0 victory was enough for Bonnyrigg Rose to earn their third away win in the Lowland League East, following earlier wins against Musselburgh Athletic and Bo’ness United.

Rose are at home twice next week, hosting Rangers B in the KDM Evolution Trophy and Hill of Beath Hawthorn in the league.
