Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic F.C. v Broxburn Athletic F.C.
Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup 2025/2026
We start our Scottish Cup campaign against fellow Lowland League side Broxburn Athletic at Ferguson Park this Saturday.
Broxburn under new Manager John Millar are currently sitting in third position in the Lowland League having won their last two matches after a mixed start to their League campaign.
Bonnyrigg Rose will be looking to re-start the season after a tough spell after only one point in the previous three League matches.
“The Rose” went out at the second-round stage of this cup competition last season at East Kilbride losing 3-1 at K-Park after losing two late goals after Cammie Ross had equalised the first half East Kilbride goal on the hour mark.
Broxburn Athletic reached the fourth round of this competition last season after away victories at Dalkeith, Auchinleck and a memorable victory at League 2 Stranraer before losing at home to Championship Ayr United.
With memories of our own of the Scottish Cup run of season 23/24 with some unforgettable moments under the then team captain Jonny Stewart “The Rose” will be looking to make their mark in this season’s competition in what will be our final match at Ferguson Park before we go home to New Dundas Park next month.
This cup tie is the first of three games in a six-day period with two away League matches to follow with trips to Bo`ness United on Tuesday 30th September and a trip to Ainslie Park to play Hearts B on Friday 3rd October both with a 7.45pm kick off.
This match will be played to a finish with extra time and potentially penalties if the sides can not be separated.
Manager Jonny Stewart pre-match thoughts –
I want to start by apologising to the fans for last Saturday.
It was nowhere near good enough and as a group we are aware of that.
The Scottish cup is a great competition to be involved in and one we want to progress in.
It’s massive for the club financially but it’s also special for the players too.
A few wins and you can end up with a brilliant tie.
I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in many memorable Scottish cup games with Bonnyrigg over the years and I am hoping to pass on that experience to the players.
Broxburn will be a tough tie.
They have recently appointed a new manager who will still be trying to get his ideas across and I’m sure the players will be trying to impress him.
They had a great result on Saturday so will come into the game confident.
I expect a reaction from my players.
We will need to be back to your best to progress and will be going all out to do that.
Mon the rose
