Bonnyrigg took a near-fatal blow to their title ambitions after second-half goals from Lee Currie and Billy King weren’t enough to secure a much needed win in Saturday’s Lowland League Action.

Cammie Ross was so close to giving Rose an early lead inside of the opening ten minutes, however his tidy finish from Max Dowling’s cross was quickly ruled out for an offside.
Jon Robertson nearly scored an opener for the home side after a header crashed against the crossbar, and Errol Douglas saw his follow-up saved excellently by Ross Connelly in goal.
Bonnyrigg were inches from an opener following a Neil Martyniuk header that struck the post, but Broxburn made them pay with the opener on 37 minutes. Scott Irving’s free-kick was headed onto the bar by Gallagher Lennon, but Jon Robertson was most aware and turned in the rebound.
Rose found themselves exposed following a series of attacks, leading to the hosts establishing a two-goal lead. Kyle Bell picked out Douglas on the right who fought off Kieran Somerville and struck a precision shot into the far corner with 46 minutes gone.

A major fightback was needed for Bonnyrigg in the second half with three goals being vital to upholding any sort of promotion ambitions. Lee Currie gave Rose a great stride towards that with a wonderful direct free-kick just outside of the box, halving the deficit within 5 minutes of the restart.
Cammie Ross posed danger as the half went on, seeing one effort trickle just wide from Samuel Gormley’s deflection and another header sailing inches over the bar.
Rose found the second goal of the half right at the very end of it, when Billy King swung in a corner on 88 minutes that seemingly travelled through everyone and beyond Robert Watt in the Broxburn net to make it 2-2 with minutes to go.
A siege ensued on the Broxburn area during injury time, but the closest Rose came was following a ball that Macky Scott crossed over the Billy King. His following effort looped over everyone but painfully crashed against the crossbar to deny the third goal.
Full-time was called shortly after as Rose fell just short of a vital win. With a point being rescued, the top spot is mathematically possible for Bonnyrigg, but a huge final-day tie against Linlithgow Rose at New Dundas Park next Saturday will be the judge of that.
