Neil Martyniuk scored twice to help Bonnyrigg Rose thrash Celtic B 5-1 at an overcast Ferguson Park this afternoon.
His first came within the opening stages, converting a penalty after Cameron Ross was fouled by the Celtic goalkeeper. Billy King doubled the lead on the thirty minute mark after beating the keeper one on one.
Martyniuk would get his second of the afternoon shortly after, reacting quickest to head home a spilled cross and putting Bonnyrigg comfortably ahead at the half time interval.
The opening twenty minutes of the second half saw the Rose keep a wave of Celtic pressure at bay and their patience soon was rewarded.
The visitors were reduced to ten men after Samuel Sidwell pulled down Cameron Ross after he snuck in behind the Celtic defender.
The resulting Lee Currie free kick was deflected into their own goal by Hayden Borland, to give the Rose a four goal advantage.
Ross was soon in on the act, finding the bottom corner from long range.
Celtic found the net in the closing stages through a Calvin Keenan header but it was too late to change the outcome.
Bonnyrigg are back in league action twice next week, hosting Albion Rovers on Tuesday evening before travelling to face Tranent on Saturday.
