East Stirlingshire 1 – 5 Bonnyrigg Rose
Bonnyrigg Rose travelled to Stenhousemuir to face East Stirlingshire for this Friday night League fixture under the lights.
Manager Jonny Stewart was able to name an unchanged side after the victory over Cumbernauld Colts on Tuesday night.
After a cagey and even start to the match “The Rose” opened the scoring on 26`minutes when Cammie Ross played the ball across for Laurie Devine to convert .
Bonnyrigg then took control of the game and were unlucky not to increase the lead before the break with chances from Callum Connolly and Cammie Ross going close.
On 50`minutes Bonnyrigg Rose doubled their lead when Cammie Ross took the ball on the halfway line and went past the East Stirlingshire defence to coolly place the ball past the Goalkeeper.
Shortly after it was 0-3 when Cammie Ross met a Josh Laing cross and head into the net.
Lee Currie then scored from a trademark free kick into the roof of the net to make it 0-4 halfway through the second half.
The home side scored on the 70`minute mark after the ball was bundled in from a corner.
“The Rose” made it 1-5 with ten minutes left when Max Dowling found Laurie Devine who converted from close range to also also get his brace.
Just before the full time whistle the lights went out twice but were quickly restored on what was an extremely bright performance from “The Rose”.
Manager Jonny Stewart was delighted with the performance after a tough three games in a six-day period with a squad that has been hampered by injuries over the past few weeks.
Three wins in a row and improved performances over this period will help with confidence as we build into the League Campaign.
