We welcome Cumbernauld Colts to Ferguson Park for our latest Parks Motor Group Lowland League fixture.
Cumbernauld under Manager John Doyle have also had a tough start to the League season but got their first win at Ainslie Park against Hearts B and have now followed it with a win at Ochilview where Cumbernauld defeated East Stirlingshire 0-4 scoring three first half goals and adding a fourth midway through the second half to make it two wins in a row for “The Colts”
“The Rose” have had a tough start to life back in the Lowland League with one win and one draw in our first four games,
Manager Jonny Stewart has been badly hampered by the volume of injuries especially to the experienced members of the squad.
In the previous League outing Bonnyrigg were held to a 1-1 draw by University of Stirling FC in a game that was played in challenging conditions.
In a game where Bonnyrigg had several chances to open the scoring UoS took the lead just before half time.
Cammie Ross found the equaliser with 15 minutes to go and despite further chances were unable to find a winning goal.
The match was overshadowed by what appeared to be a serious injury to Captain Kerr Young.
Bonnyrigg Rose are unbeaten in the previous six meetings between these sides and will be aiming to maintain this record.
The thoughts of Manager Jonny Stewart on this match -
Hello and welcome back to Ferguson Park under the lights for our match against Cumbernauld Colts.
Last time out in the league was a disappointing draw against Stirling Uni. I feel we created enough chances to win 2 games and should have been out of sight in the first half.
Tonight’s match will be another difficult test.
Cumbernauld have recruited well in the summer and have started winning.
Make no mistake about it, we need to start going on a winning run and hopefully that starts tonight.
I’d like to welcome new signing Laurie Devine and Alassan Jones. Both have been involved the last few weeks and it’s great to get them on board.
Some bad news is that skipper Kerr Young suffered a serious knee injury last Saturday and we are awaiting the results of a scan to know more information.
Cmon the rose ?
