Bonnyrigg Rose entertained University of Stirling at Ferguson Park in our latest Lowland League fixture.
In a match played in incredibly difficult conditions due to a very strong wind and a fiery pitch Manager Jonny Stewart made two changes from the side that lost 2-1 at Cowdenbeath in our previous League match.
Allasan Jones and Kallum Higginbotham made way for Corrie Fellows and new signing Laurie Devine.
“The Rose “started with a change of shape and against the strong wind created a couple of early chances but suffered a massive blow after 6” minutes when Captain Kerr Young went off with what appears to be a serious injury.
Rudi Bryce was then introduced and Manager Jonny Stewart was forced into another tactical change.
Bonnyrigg continued to create a number of chances throughout the first half through Cammie Ross and Laurie Devine but were hit by a sucker punch on the stroke of half time when the University of Stirling took the lead when Walker found the net with a looping header that found the corner of the net.
With the wind at the back “The Rose” continued to create chances but could not find a breakthrough until Cammie Ross flicked the ball into the nest with his back to goal with just over 15 minutes to go.
There were several chances for both sides after that, but neither could find the winning goal.
Manager Jonny Stewart was happy with the effort and commitment of the side and felt that the team had created enough chances to claim all three points.
*Next Match we visit Hermand Park to face West Calder United in South Challenge Cup.
