Both sides come into this match looking for their first points in this competition this season.
“The Rose” despite playing excellent football and being very competitive in our previous Premier Sports Cup outings are still looking for our first point in this competition after a defeat at Ferguson Park against Alloa Athletic and the defeat at Airdrie on Tuesday night.
Despite losing an early goal to the Championship side Bonnyrigg created several chances until going down to 10 men when Josh Laing received his second yellow card in conceding a penalty which was converted.
Airdrie then added a third just before half time to basically secure the 3 points.
Corrie Fellows who has just signed from Kelty Hearts made his debut at the start of the second half and despite being down to 10 men “The Rose” kept the shape and continued to work hard and were able to get through the second half without conceding.
Assistant Manager Ross Gray was rightly proud of the commitment and the character that the team had shown in tough circumstances.
Montrose who are under Manager Stewart Petrie kicked off their Premier Sports campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Alloa on Tuesday night.
The League One side who finished 8th in that division last season will provide another tough test for “The Rose”.
