Bonnyrigg Rose travelled to Airdrie for our second match in this season's Premier Sports Cup.
After the home defeat against Alloa Athletic Manager Jonny Stewart named an unchanged team for this tie.
Despite a promising start "The Rose" went behind after 11' minutes when an Armstrong shot from the edge of the box found the top corner.
Both sides then continued to create chances with the best of the Bonnyrigg efforts coming from Rudi Bryce bringing out an excellent safe from Melrose in the Airdrie goal followed by a Josh Laing header that was again well saved by the Airdrie goalkeeper.
The match changed in the 37'minute when the home side were awarded a penalty after a foul by Josh Laing who in turn received a second yellow card and from the resultant penalty Henderson doubled the Airdrie lead.
Two minutes later Airdrie found the net again through McGrattan to make it 3-0 at half time.
Bonnyrigg Rose introduced new signing Corrie Fellows for his debut at the start of the second half and just before the hour mark were able to bring on Cammie Ross for his first appearance of the season.
"The Rose" with ten men kept the team shape throughout and showed a lot of resilience and character and were able to keep a clean sheet for
the second half.
