Rose Take All Three Points at Stair Park
Jonny Stewart named an unchanged side from last week’s win as Rose made the journey to Stair Park for their final game of the season.
The first half would be a battle for momentum and possession, as both teams were struggling to impose themselves fully in windy conditions.
Bonnyrigg Rose’s first chance of the afternoon came through a Neil Martyniuk effort that was volleyed over.
Rose’s best chances of the first half came through Murray Aiken in the 21st minute, as he would drag his shot just wide of the left post, and Cammy Ross would have a shot on goal in the 39th minute.
Stranraer’s best chances of the half came through Guthrie in the 25th minute and a dangerous free kick in the 31st minute, forcing Paddy Martin into a low save.
Stranraer came out of the blocks fast in the second half, with Robertson forcing a smart stop from Paddy Martin in the 51st minute.
Minutes later, Lee Currie made a vital clearance from a dangerous corner to keep things level.
Rose would find a breakthrough, Aaron Arnott again proving why he’s been Rose’s danger man in recent weeks.
The goal came courtesy of a Rose attack starting from a Cammy Ross led counter, after a dynamic run that stretched Stranraer’s shape.
The ball dropped and Arnott buried it with a cool finish to make it 1–0 in the 72nd minute.
Rose managed the remainder of the game with keeping possession, holding their shape and refusing to let the hosts back in.
Bonnyrigg Rose will travel to K-Park to face East Kilbride in the first leg of the Scottish League 2 playoff next Saturday.
A huge thank you to the dedicated Rose supporters who turned out in great numbers for the journey.
C’mon The Rose! ?
