Jonny Stewart made two changes from the previous week, bringing in Aaron Arnott and Kieran Somerville for Broque Watson and Neil Martyniuk.
The opening 45 minutes were a tightly contested affair, with both sides struggling to find rhythm or clear chances.
Early on, East Fife showed some attacking intent, with Munro firing wide in the 28th minute after a promising build-up.
However, it was Rose who had perhaps the best opportunity of the half when Arnott fired his shot over the bar just six minutes earlier.
East Fife came out with more urgency and took control early in the second half.
Nathan Austin latched onto a loose ball and calmly finished to give the visitors the lead in the 53rd minute.
The game tilted further in East Fife’s favour just past the hour mark when The Rose were reduced to ten men after Ryan Porteous received a second yellow card for a late challenge.
East Fife looked to press their advantage, with Austin nearly doubling his tally in the 61st minute, only to be denied by a fine save from McNeil.
The Rose goalkeeper was called into action again later, keeping out multiple efforts as East Fife pushed for a second.
East Fife scored a second in the closing seconds of added time to claim all 3 points.
The Rose faithful will travel to Station Park next Saturday 19th April as Bonnyrigg Rose face Forfar Athletic.
