

Bonnyrigg Rose exit- East of Scotland Cup:
Manager Calum Elliot made five changes to the squad following the recent loss to Edinburgh City, introducing new signings Kai Smutek and Ryan Porteous, both making their debuts for the club.
The game started pop with Rose creating the first opportunity in the 12th minute, as Aaron Arnott tested the goalkeeper from distance. Four minutes later, Porteous saw his low-driven effort saved by Ryan Adamson. However, in the 19th minute, a miscommunication in Rose’s defense allowed Rudy Bryce to give Kelty the lead. Marc Anderson made a crucial save in the 28th minute, denying Bryce’s powerful shot. Rose equalized in the 30th minute through Bradley Barrett. As the half drew to a close, both teams had clear goal-scoring opportunities, with Mark Ferrie volleying over the bar and Williamson’s shot being saved by Anderson.
To start the second half, Williamson had the first chance, met by a strong stop from Anderson . In the 59th minute, Ferrie struck a volley from a Porteous flick-on header, and a minute later, Adamson again denied him. Kelty regained the lead in the 63rd minute through Ben Hobbs. They extended their advantage in the 70th minute when Sean Murphy scored an own goal, and Scott Williamson added another in the 76th minute.
Rose had several chances late in the game, with Smutek shooting wide and Lennon’s shot being blocked, concluding a frustrating half for the Bonnyrigg .Rose will return to league action against The Spartans F.C. at New Dundas Park for their first home fixture of 2025 on Tuesday.
