After positive results in recent weeks, Bonnyrigg Rose hosted Ray McKinnon’s Forfar Athletic, marking their first home game in over a fortnight.
Calum Elliot made one change from last week's win at Stirling, with Neil Martyniuk returning to the backline for Rose, while Aaron Arnott was deployed in midfield following his cameo at fullback last Saturday.
The start of the game didn’t feature many chances, with the best opportunity coming from a Kieran Inglis one-on-one, where Ritchie came out on top with a strong save.
Ritchie was tested again when former Rose player Brad Rodden’s free-kick forced a diving save from the Bonnyrigg keeper. Rose didn't have many chances in the opening 45, the best being a Bradley Barrett volley going across the face of goal and wide after Dean Watson played a tricky disguised pass.
Both sides went into the break level, but Forfar struck early in the second half.
Nathan Cannon found the back of the net in the 54th minute, giving the visitors momentum in the second period.
Rose struggled to provide an attacking threat in the half, with their best chance coming from a Lucas McRoberts header, which lacked the power to trouble McCallum.
Forfar had the final big chance of the game when Josh Skelly fired wide of the Rose goal, closing a frustrating afternoon for the Rose.
The Rose faithful will now look for a positive result in Methil next weekend, as they take on league leaders East Fife.
