Bonnyrigg Rose were back on the road again and with a point to prove after a late collapse cost Rose the points at Borough Briggs the week prior.
Calum Elliot was in the stands today with Assistant Manager Kevin Smith taking charge for his first competitive fixture.
Rose started the stronger of the two sides and almost found the lead after Kallum Higginbotham played Cammy Ross through on goal, but Derek Gaston stood strong in the Binos net.
Rose did take the lead through an own goal shortly after. Lee Currie, back in the team today, lofted the ball into the back-post where Ross contested with Cammy McKinley, and the ball sailed past Gaston after coming off McKinley's shoulder.
Ross almost provided the extraordinary as he forced Gaston into a flying save to deny a sure-fire goal of the season contender from range.
The one-way traffic continued over to the second-half, as Dean Watson found his way through on goal and saw his powerful shot prevented by Gaston. Watson got close against soon after, his header being saved by Gaston after some scrappy play from Stirling.
Cammy Ross showed his strength to hold off the defender in the middle of the park, and did well to pick out Bradley Barrett as he darted through on goal, and when presented with a one-on-one opportunity, he didn't pass it up as he blasted it past Gaston to make the points safe.
The assurance with the second goal showed the improvements Rose have made following last week's defeat at Elgin, and Rose will be looking to build upon their 3 wins from the last 4 when they welcome Forfar Athletic to New Dundas Park next weekend.
