Rose succumbed to defeat against the Spartans.
Rose entered the game following their last meeting, a 2-2 draw at NDP. Calum Elliot made no changes from last week's 4-1 victory in Methil against East Fife.
Rose started the first half with more chances, including Keiran McGachie firing over the bar in the 10th minute. Ross Gray came close with a shot wide of the Spartans' goal after a good bit of link-up play between Gray and McGachie. Cameron Russell tested Paddy Martin early on, with Martin getting the better of the Spartans midfielder.
The second half continued the tempo set in the first 45 minutes. Neil Martyniuk nearly headed Rose in front, with his header just floating over a diving Blair Carswell. Angus Mailer sustained an injury in the 60th minute. Kerr Young had Bonnyrigg Rose’s best chance of the afternoon with an effort from a corner, which looked like a certain goal but just rustled wide in the 68th minute.
Neil Martyniuk came close to putting Rose ahead after his header was claimed by Blair Carswell during a Bonnyrigg corner in the 72nd minute.
Bonnyrigg came close once again, with Keiran McGachie firing his shot over after a great bit of individual skill from Bradley Barrett leading to the chance.
Cammy Russell came close to scoring for The Spartans after his free kick floated over the bar in the 78th minute.
Spartans scored in the dying minutes of the game, with Blair Henderson scoring a sweet volley from outside the box, leaving Paddy Martin no chance to stop it.
Rose will look to get a promising result next Saturday away to League leaders Stenhousemuir.
