After two tough home games in 3 days, we make the long trip up the A9 to face Elgin City, in this crucial League 2 clash at Borough Briggs.

The Rose currently sits in 7th with Elgin 9th, with only one point between the sides as we go into this match.

The Rose travel North after the game with The Spartans at NDP on Tuesday night, where it finished in a 2-2 draw, in an entertaining match.

The Spartans took the lead just after the halfway mark in the first half, but The Rose were able to equalise through Keiran McGachie just before half time. At the start of the second half The Spartans were awarded a penalty, which was converted, and from there the game remained even until a very eventful final 10 minutes.

The Rose had Neil Martyniuk sent off for a tackle in the middle of the pitch, they then made further substitutions to push for the equaliser, and were awarded a penalty when Bradley Barratt was brought down with a high kick to the head. Declan Byrne stepped up and coolly converted the penalty for his first goal for the club, earning The Rose a well-deserved draw. A performance that was full of determination and togetherness.

Elgin City went down 2-1 at Clyde on Saturday, despite taking a 1st half lead, they lost two quickfire goals in the 2nd half and finished the match with 10 men after having a player sent off in the final seconds.

This will be a stiff test for The Rose against an Elgin side that have improved, especially at home, since the start of the year. Both sides will be looking to pick up the points to move up this very tight league table.

In the previous league match between these two sides (06/02/24), in a game played under the lights at NDP, The Rose came out on top with a deserved 2-0 victory, with goals in each half through Conor Doan, in what was an excellent all-round performance from the team.

Last time at Borough Briggs (11/11/23) the Rose went down 2-0 in a game played in torrential rain, losing a goal just after half-time and a second midway through the 2nd half despite having good chances, including hitting the post, and being the better side in the first half. The Rose just could not find a way through a resolute Elgin defence.
