After the long Tuesday night trip to Peterhead, we make the short trip on Saturday to Ainslie Park to face Spartans FC. This will be the first of two meetings between the sides over the next 10 days, as the game postponed from 30/12/23 will be played on Tuesday 05/03/24 under the lights at NDP.

The Rose come into this game after a 0-0 draw, under the lights at the Balmoor Stadium, in what was overall a frustrating night against a team down to 10 men at the start of the second half. We were unable to break down a resolute defence and had to settle for one point.

After that draw in Peterhead it leaves The Rose currently fifth in a very condensed league, where only 3 points are separating fifth from ninth place in this competitive league.

Spartans, who were promoted via the play off system last season, have made a strong start to life in the Cinch League 2 and are currently 3rd in the division. The last time out they scored a dramatic away win at Stranraer with two late injury time goals from Ayrton Sonkur and have added some Premier League experience into their squad over the course of the season so far.

In the only League game between the sides so far this season it ended in an eventful 2-2 draw, despite the Rose taking a 2-0 lead at the start of the second half with goals from Ross Gray and stunning free kick from Lee Currie. We were then pegged back by goals from Armstrong and Russell for the home side.

The Rose have an excellent record against Spartans and are unbeaten in the last 6 meetings with 3 wins and 3 draws and will be aiming to extend this unbeaten run as we start to reach the final third of the season.
