Match Preview

After a three week absence the Rose finally reach match day 9 and the end of the first quarter of the season this weekend, as we welcome Clyde to New Dundas Park. In the only previous league meeting between the two sides earlier in the season it was Bonnyrigg who ran out victorious at New Douglas Park through a first goal for Jason Jarvis and a sublime lob from Bradley Barrett upon his return to the side from a prolonged spell on the sidelines though injury. The two sides have met each other in cup competitions with one win apiece; Clyde ended victorious on their last (and first) visit to Bonnyrigg in the Scottish Cup 4th round in season 2019/20 through a goal by Ally Love, whereas goals by McGachie and Hall were good enough last season to record the Rose’s first victory on their first appearance in the League Cup group stages at Hamilton’s NDP.

The Bully Wee have managed to get through their first quarter of fixtures and currently sit in 9th position in the league table following their relegation to league 2 via the play-offs last season, which saw Annan Athletic promoted. Brian McLean was also promoted from player to manager in the close season and has made a host of changes to the squad this season when compared to the one that finished last whilst making full use of the loan market, the most eye catching of which was the signing of Alex King from Morton a few weeks ago. Their first win of the season at home to bottom side Elgin City was followed up with a very credible draw at Ochilview vs Stenhousemuir. However last time out two weeks ago they were defeated 4-0 at their temporary home vs Dumbarton and will be looking to make amends this time around.

What seems like an age ago, Rose had to settle for one point last time out when facing The Spartans at Ainslie Park despite being in a commanding position and two goals to the good after the first hour of play through Ross Gray and Lee Currie, which was arguably up to that point their best performance of the season so far. Two goals in a ten minute spell by the SPFL’s newest addition put paid to making the short trip back to Midlothian with another away win in the league. There were lots of positives to take from the last fixture however and Robbie Horn and his management team will be looking to instil that into his players to ensure that our quarter ends with a win at home and consolidate Bonnyrigg’s position in the top half of the cinch league 2 table.

Admission for Saturday's match is PATG £14 adults, £9 concessions (+65, disabled, carer), under 16s £5 and U12s are free accompanied by a paying adult. Cash and card are accepted on all entrance gates, where 50/50 draw tickets (£1 each) and match programmes (£2) will also be on sale. Full details are available on our NDP Guide webpage. Our club shop which is located opposite the main snack bar will be open before the game once gates open at 14:00 and also at half time. Saturday's referee is Greg Soutar and he is assisted by Barry Reid and Nathan Clac-Mansfield.
