It’s the first away day of the new campaign on Saturday as we head to the other NDP, New Douglas Park, to take on Clyde.

Following their 9th place finish in cinch League One last season, the Bully Wee were eventually condemned to life in the fourth tier following a play off final defeat over two legs to Annan Athletic. With relegation came a change in manager as 38 year old Brian McLean, who joined the club last summer was appointed head coach and entrusted with the job of taking Clyde back to League One.

Life in the hot seat for McLean hasn’t started quite as well as he’d have liked with four defeats from four during the clubs Viaplay Cup group stage campaign. A 3-1 defeat to Hamilton was followed up with a 5-2 loss on the road at Cove Rangers. Brechin City were 2-1 winners at New Douglas Park next before the group was rounded off with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Premiership side Livingston.

As the League season kicked off last weekend, Clyde faced a visit to League Two new boys Spartans. They’d get off to the perfect start as Martin Rennie had the visitors ahead after 24 minutes, a lead that Clyde would take into the half time interval. A winning start to the new season however was not to be for Brian McLean’s men as Jamie Dishington struck Spartan’s historic first ever SPFL goal on 69 minutes to ensure the hosts took a share of the points.

With both ourselves and Clyde beginning the season with 1-1 draws, both sides will be out to get their first win on the board on Saturday. There’s been two competitive meetings between the two sides previously, the most recent coming in last season’s League Cup group stage in which the Rose ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Kieran’s McGachie & Hall. The other encounter came two years prior in 2020 as Clyde visited NDP in the Scottish Cup. It was a valiant effort from the Rose that afternoon but a late Ally Love strike ensured Danny Lennon’s men progressed.

With the head two head currently Bonnyrigg 1-1 Clyde in matches played, will there be a victor on Saturday or is that a sign that both sides are in for another 1-1 stalemate?
