And, we’re back!
Bonnyrigg Rose’s 2022/23 season kicks off with the club’s maiden appearance in the Premier Sports Cup in the form of a trip to Hamilton to take on Clyde.
With the Lowland League title and League Two Play-Off winning campaign now firmly in the rear-view mirror, the Rosey Posey aim to make further history as they debut in the Scottish League Cup.
Danny Lennon’s Clyde provide familiar opposition, remembered infamously as the side that put the brakes on the Rose’s fabled Scottish Cup run of 2018/19.
Only an 80th minute goal could separate the two sides, scored by Ally Love, who has recently departed the League One outfit to join Dumbarton in the fourth tier.
It’s been a busy summer of arrivals for The Bully Wee however, with no less than 14 players heading for the club’s latest home of Hamilton Accies’ New Douglas Park.
The highest profile addition arguably comes in the shape of Brian McLean, the 37-year-old defender who has ran out for Falkirk, Dundee United and Hibs.
Robbie Horn has brought in signings of his own in Midlothian, with this fixture giving the Rose faithful a possible first glance at the new recruits in competitive action.
Kevin Smith, Conor Doan and Josh Grigor are all in line to make their official debuts, while Zach Khan could also feature following his promotion from the 20s set-up.
The new boys have featured in the club’s pre-season campaign, which concluded with a 5-0 defeat at Tynecastle to Robbie Neilson’s Hearts.
Clyde were on the receiving end of the same scoreline in the opposite side of Edinburgh at the weekend in what was a commanding opening fixture performance from Hibs, who visit New Dundas Park on Sunday in front of the Premier Sports cameras.
Both Rose and Clyde will be on the hunt for their first points of the competition in what is sure to be a hotly contested clash during our summer heatwave.
Kick-off is 7:45pm on Wednesday night at New Douglas Park in Hamilton. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £6 for U18s, and are available via the link here.
Tickets will also be available to purchase at the Clyde Office on matchday with either cash or card, however, the home side have advised supporters to purchase their tickets online in advance if they can.
The hosts would also like to welcome Rose fans into their Fanzone and Supporters' Bar, which include alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, food options, a pool table and a free kids' arcade area.
For supporters unable to attend the game, there will be a live stream provided by Clyde at the price of £12. The link to the stream will be available at the same link used to purchase online tickets.
