The Rose are on the road again for the ninth time in eleven cup outings so far this season as they make the trip to Cardenden to face East of Scotland Premier side Dundonald Bluebell in the fifth round of the traderadiators.com South Challenge Cup. The last time the two sides met was in the Rose's sole season in the EoS league just over three years ago, also at the Bell's ground. An own goal and strikes from Hoskins and Lough ensured that all three points travelled back to Midlothian in the Conference B fixture.
Kevin Fotheringham's men have certainly shown their cup pedigree this season as they also find themselves in the latter stages of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup as well as this one. Bibby's men currently lie in 10th place in the league and will not completely lose focus on that with six games to go to ensure that they they will be plying their trade in the same division next season. Some familiar faces in the Bell squad are Colin Wilson (season 14/15) and Ross Drummond (SL winner 15/16).
Robbie Horn's side comes into this fixture off the back of a rare but merited league defeat at the hands of Dalbeattie Star at Islecroft, so the short turn around time to this game could be a positive. Even the harshest of critics would find it difficult to chastise the squad too much based on the game last time out given their exploits this season, and in particular the weekend before as they secured the SLFL title in style at Berwick. The manage will however ensure that the players will be up for this one with a quarter final at stake, with the winner of this tie at home on Saturday April 2nd to the winners of the Bo'ness United/Petershill game played on Wednesday.
Admission for the game is PATG with Adults £7/Concessions £4.
