It seems an eternity since Bonnyrigg Rose last competed in the Lowland League – fingers crossed for Saturday.
Robbie Horn’s men haven’t played a league match since the BBC cameras appeared at New Dundas, with Dean Brett’s double ensuring they put on a show.
Back-to-back Saturday’s in cup competitions followed by a last-minute call-off courtesy of some last-minute snow, Rose will be raring to go.
This weekend’s opponent is the University of Stirling, who the Midlothian outfit have already encountered this campaign.
The students made the trip through east back in August but come up against a rampant Rose. Keiran McGachie nodded home a brace before Jamie Penker gave Chris Geddes’ side a glimmer of hope. However, former Student, Kieran Hall secured the three points for the home side with five minutes to go – albeit with a fair amount of controversy.
Saturday’s venue is indeed, Forthbank. The only meeting between the two last season came at the University’s home and the points were shared. George Hunter’s first half finish cancelled out an early Uni goal, despite the visitors’ domination.
The hosts were recently sealed back-to-back British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier North titles. Furthermore, the Students are unbeaten in 12 and haven’t conceded in their last seven matches.
Rose are looking to make Saturday their ninth consecutive league win on the bounce and extend their lead at the top of the Lowland League table. Admission is PATG with adults charged at £6 and concessions at £4. Both sets of supporters will be housed in the main stand.
