Get your Rose hat, scarves and gloves looked out, it is sure to be a chilly one.
There’s no rest for the wicked – or in this case, Robbie Horn’s Bonnyrigg Rose side – as they go again in the Lowland League on Tuesday night.
Fresh off the back of a crucial win against Broomhill on Saturday, the Midlothian outfit host Vale of Leithen at New Dundas Park.
The three points were secured at The Indodrill Stadium at the weekend, courtesy of a calm finish from Keiran McGachie. The striker, who scored his 101st Rose goal, later saw red for two bookable offences. But 10-man Bonnyrigg Rose saw the match out in admirable fashion.
Speaking of admirable fashion, that’s one way to describe the last meeting with Vale. Just over a month ago, Rose emphatically dismantled The Borders side. Kerr Young, Scott Gray, Lee Currie, Ross Gray, George Hunter, and Dean Brett all got in on the act, Kieran Hall and Nathan Evans both grabbed braces, but Bob Wilson went home with the match ball after the centre-half scored the most unlikely of hattricks.
On a night where the Lowland League record for a result was recorded, one element from the Rose players play stood out above the rest. From the second goal onwards – which was scored by Hall – the boys rushed to get the ball and restart the action – an elite mentality.
While some supporters are already predicting the scoreline for Tuesday’s encounter, a very different test beckons to that at Victoria Park.
Grant Sandison has since taken over at the helm from Penicuik Athletic and brings plenty of experience from his own playing days in the professional game. In just his second game in charge, Vale picked up their first and only point thus far of the season, in a 1-1 draw at home with Gretna 2008.
Kick-off at NDP is at 7:45pm on Tuesday evening. Admission is £7 for adults and £4 for concessions, while under 12’s with a paying adult go free.
