Robbie Horn and his men are back on the road in the Lowland League as they travel west along the M9 to Clackmannanshire.
The Rose’s last away day against Broomhill was technically against BSC Glasgow. A thrilling 3-2 victory greeted travelling supporters on a chilly Friday night clash in January 2020, with Lee Currie, George Hunter and Ewan Moyes grabbing the goals.
Our last clash against David Gormley’s men came in late July at New Dundas Park and again the tie fell in our favour. Bradley Barrett nabbed his first goal for the Rose with a crashing strike in off the underside of the crossbar (that maybe did not cross the line) before George Hunter wrapped the tie up in the first half with a stupendously great looping first-time volley from distance.
Bonnyrigg come into this next face-off with Broomhill in excellent form. Six games, six wins - and three wins before that in September too - meaning there’s a chance to make it 10 straight wins in all competitions on Saturday. There were thumpings, cup victories and title contenders defeated, with Civil Service Strollers seen off at NDP last weekend.
Keiran McGachie seized his 99th Rose goal to put the hosts in front, before quickly tapping in his landmark centurion strike to settle nerves late on. Legend status has been secured for the big man - if it hadn’t been already. Kieran Hall never stops running and his hard work paid off at the death when he snuck in a lovely header to round out a sweet 3-0 victory. A great day for Keiran and Kieran, and a big win for the team.
Broomhill also notched three goals last weekend in an exciting 3-2 triumph over University of Stirling. A brace from forward Ross Kavanagh and an unfortunate own goal secured the three points for the Alloa-based side, allowing them to rise to 12th in the Lowland League table.
Kick-off is at 3pm this Saturday at Recreation Park, Alloa. It’s a pay at the gate affair, with tickets costing £8 for adults and £4 for concessions, while under 16s go free. There is also a collection at the ground for Beatson Cancer Charity and any donations are welcome.
