Following Saturday’s trouncing of Edinburgh University at New Dundas Park, the Rose will travel to Falkirk Stadium on Wednesday evening to take on East Stirlingshire.
The relentless performance against the Students lifted Rose to the top of the Lowland League table for the time being. Two goals from the perennial Dean Hoskins, either side of a Callum Connolly header, was followed up by a thumping Kerr Young strike from distance, a league debut goal from new recruit Nathan Evans before both Ross and Scott Gray grabbed their first goals of the season.
While the Rose were in seventh heaven, East Stirlingshire were also in action as they battled hard to earn a 1-1 draw with Civil Service Strollers. Cameron Crooks put the Shire ahead after just five minutes but the Strollers got a deserved equaliser in the second half through Jonathan Moffat.
Derek Ure’s side currently sit in 8th place in the Lowland League after collecting 11 points from a possible 21 to start their 2021/22 campaign - with the draw against Civil Service extending their unbeaten run to three games.
Bonnyrigg defeated East Stirlingshire twice in 2019 but the most recent contest between the two sides ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Rose. An early Dean Watson strike was cancelled out by a Dean Brett penalty before a very dubious penalty decision went the way of the Shire and was confidently dispatched by Andy Rodgers.
Two tough draws had preceded that unfortunate loss last November but now, the Rose head into this upcoming fixture in high spirits as they seek to secure a fifth consecutive league win.
Kick-off is at 7:45pm at Falkirk Stadium. Tickets can be purchased through the Fanbase app, while paying at the gate is also an option. Tickets are available at £10 for an adult and £7 for concessions, while under 14’s are free when accompanied by an adult.
