Bonnyrigg Rose’s first away day of the Lowland League season leads them to Broadwood, as they meet early table toppers Cumbernauld Colts on Wednesday night.
Robbie Horn’s side will be looking to kick on from their positive start to the campaign at the weekend, with goals from Lee Currie and George Hunter ensuring the Rose picked up three points on the opening day against Celtic B.
From one Colts to another, Cumbernauld enjoyed their start to the new season too as they breezed past Vale of Leithen 4-0 at Victoria Park, thanks to goals from new boys Daniel Hatfield and Sean Winter, as well as a brace from skipper Stephen O’Neill.
The Rose didn’t get the opportunity to travel to Broadwood in last season’s curtailed campaign, but did come up against the Colts in brutal conditions at New Dundas Park. Two hurricane-assisted goals from Cameron Foy and Scott Gray, whose strike came directly from a corner, meant both sides left with a point on a wet and wild day in Midlothian.
The last trip to Clyde’s home came in August 2019, in what was our first ever meeting with Cumbernauld and just our second ever competitive fixture on a Friday night. An emphatic Hunter finish and a fine Dean Brett header gave Rose the 2-0 win, ending Colts’ unbeaten start to the league campaign.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm on Wednesday night with tickets available to purchase at the price of £8 for adults and £4 for concessions at the link here. Pay at the gate tickets will also be available.
