In a fiery 90 minutes, the Rose fought well and came out victorious against the previous league leaders.
Both teams started the game in a lively manner, but it was Rose who had the first real chance. After five minutes the ball fell to Lee Currie who beat McGinley in the Kilby goal, but was denied by the post.
Keiran McGachie started the game well, running the channels and getting in behind the East Kilbride defence. He gathered the ball on the right and found himself inside the box, he got his shot away but McGinley got his hand to it as it flashed across his goal.
The opening stages of the match were fairly even, and Kilby got a chance when the ball fell to captain, Paul Paton, at the edge of the box, but he fired his shot over Weir's crossbar.
Rose were playing some lovely football and started to pile the pressure onto East Kilbride's back line. Dean Brett made his way into the box on the right hand side and done well to get his shot away but McGinley saved well. George Hunter was there to shoot from the rebound but his effort sailed over the bar from close range.
The opening endeavours of Robbie Horn's side eventually paid off after 18 minutes. The referee pointed to the spot after the ball came off an East Kilbride hand inside the area. Dead ball specialist Lee Currie stepped up under pressure and cooly slotted home to make it 1-0 to the Rose.
Kilby struggled to create chances after Currie opened the scoring and Rose controlled the remainder of the half and went into the break with a one goal advantage.
The second half didn't start any better for Stephen Aitken's men. Kyle Hutton was given his marching orders after the referee showed him his second yellow of the match after a poor challenge in the middle of the park. However, after going down to 10, the K-Park side grew into the game and made things more difficult for Rose.
Rose did have their share of chances in the second half. Hunter seen his effort saved by McGinley and, from the corner, Kerr Young's header seemed goal-bound but it was cleared off the line. Geo again found his way in behind the Kilby defence but he was again denied by McGinley.
East Kilbride started to put pressure on Bonnyrigg but their efforts didn't pay off until the last five minutes of the game. Rose were defending well but conceded a corner on the right hand side which was taken by Wilkie and eventually met by Miller at the back post to level the game.
Kilby must have thought they had rescued a point and they could have had all three if it wasn't for a tremendous block by Bob Wilson, almost immediately after their equaliser.
However, the late scenes went in the favour of Rose after some nice build-up play from Currie and McGachie ended in the referee pointing to the spot again. Who else would step up but Lee Currie again, who kept his composure and fired to the left of McGinley in the East Kilbride goal to make it 2-1 to the home side.
An outstanding Rose performance will fill Robbie Horn's men with confidence ahead of next Saturday's away tie against Dalbeattie Star.
