Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days.

It was great to end the year with a win in our last competitive game before the break. Linlithgow is still a very difficult place to go and though they haven't been performing as well as in previous years they are are still full of good experienced players.

I thought we controlled the game for the majority of it and should have been in front with the opportunities we had early in the game. Linlithgow came into the game for a spell but again we took control and finished the half on the front foot and again missed a couple of chances to go ahead.

Second half I thought we dominated and most of the game was played in the Linlithgow half. Again we had chances but only had one goal to show for our efforts. Linlithgow had a few free kicks and corners towards the end of the game but we defended well as a team and I don't think Michael really had a save to make all game. I did say to the players after the game that we need to start putting our chances away or we are going to getting punished for it, but at the same time we are keeping clean sheets and winning games so it's hard to be too critical.

We obviously had great news yesterday with the Hibs game being confirmed at Tynecastle which for me is 100% the right decision. There is a huge demand for tickets for this game which made it impossible to be held at New Dundas Park on that basis plus health and safety reasons. TV channels also chose to screen other games so switching the game is giving everybody who wants to see the game including Bonnyrigg fans, Hibs fans, neutrals, including many fans from other junior teams, the opportunity to attend and share in what is a historic game in many ways.

As I said in the press today we will enjoy the day and it is a fantastic experience for everyone involved but we are not just there to make up the numbers. We are going there to compete and show people what we are capable of. If we can perform to the levels we showed against Dumbarton, plus a bit more and Hibs have an off day you just never know. They are a top side though with a top manager and we will also need a bit of luck on the day too.

2016 has been a fantastic year for Bonnyrigg Rose and one I will never forget. We have a lot to look forward to in the New Year and we will keep the players ticking over during the festive period with training and bounce games.

Have a great Christmas and see you all in the New Year.

All the best!

Robbie
