Bonnyrigg Rose are delighted to announce that youth academy graduates Josh Beveridge and Callum Hogg have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
Their progression is a proud moment for everyone involved in the pathway programme, highlighting Bonnyrigg Rose’s ongoing commitment to developing homegrown talent.
First-team manager Jonny Stewart commented:
“I’m delighted to get both Josh and Callum signed up. Callum was part of the first team training when I came in last season. I couldn’t believe how comfortable he was at training for only being 16, and he made a couple of appearances towards the end of last season. Callum is one that I wanted to get in for the whole of pre-season to have a proper look at him. Josh was recommended by Danny, the under 19s manager along with a couple other guys who all done well. Josh has done really well since he came in for pre-season, he’s never looked out of place during training at all. Again he is only 17 so he is very young, but he is mature and has a good footballing head on him.
They are two players who we’ll look to progress and that’s one of the reasons we have tied them into a first team contract, they have both done really well and deserve this. I think anyone who has been at any of our games this season will have seen that they have held their own during these games. They are two players that we have high hopes for.
Josh can play a number of positions: right back, centre back, centre midfield and he is very comfortable in all of them. He maybe isn’t this most physical yet as he is only 17 but what he maybe lacks in that department he more than makes up for in the tackle, he is very strong in the tackle, he is good on the ball, reads the game well.
Callum is more of an attacking player, he can play in the 10, he can play wide, and possibly as a striker too. He has great feet, has shown great finishing in training.
I’m not saying they will play every single week for the first team yet, as they’re maybe not ready at this moment, however they will definitely be part of my squad moving forward and we hope they’ll be a big part of the future here.”
The club would also like to recognise the efforts of the academy coaches and support staff who have played a vital role in the boys’ journey. These signings are a testament to the strength of Bonnyrigg Rose’s youth development pathway.
Everyone at the club wishes Josh and Callum the very best as they take this exciting next step in their footballing careers.
