Bonnyrigg Rose is pleased to announce the signing of highly sought-after youngster Conor Doan from University of Stirling.

The 22-year-old has been a standout for the students, picking up both the players’ and coaches’ player of the season awards last term, as well as the goal of the season gong.

In addition to individual trophies, Doan – who can play in an array of positions – has also collected two BUCS Premier North titles in his time at Forthbank, collecting the second in December courtesy of a 3-0 win over Durham.

Doan has also been one of the Lowland League’s most regarded penalty takers, adding to the plethora of spot kickers at Robbie Horn’s disposal.

On his new signing, the gaffer said: “Conor is a player we have had our eye on for a while now.

“He first came to our attention playing against us for Stirling Uni a couple of seasons ago now. He’s a versatile player who can play in midfield or at the back. He’s left sided, good size, very comfortable on the ball and scores goals.

“We had to be patient with this one as there has been a number of clubs after him but I’m over the moon that he’s chosen Bonnyrigg.

“He’s a great lad and has got a real hunger and desire to kick on and do well.”

Upon his arrival, Doan said: “I’m really excited to get started and the aim is to come in and hit the ground running.

“I really appreciate the opportunity the gaffer and the staff have given me now to represent the club and I’m happy to be a part of the journey to see how far the club can go.

“Obviously leaving the Uni after four years was always going to be a change and deciding where to play my football next was always going to be a big decision for me. But I was in training earlier this week and got a great feeling from the club and players from the moment I walked in and knew from then that I'd made the right choice.

“Having played against Bonnyrigg a number of times over the past years I was able to see the way the team plays, the quality of players in the squad and the massive support they get from the fans and now I’m just happy and grateful to be a part of it.”

Welcome to the Rose, Conor!
