Introduction

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club aims to create and maintain an environment where spectators can enjoy the game of football, safe in the knowledge that they are free from all forms of harassment, abuse, unacceptable or disorderly conduct.

This document is designed to describe Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club's policy on unacceptable conduct, which applies for any football matches or events within New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg, or at any away ground fixtures.

Definition

Unacceptable conduct is conduct which is violent or disorderly. Conduct is violent where there is:

Actual, attempted or threatened physical violence against a person or persons.
Intentional damage to property.

Disorderly conduct involves any activity which stirs up or sustains, or is likely, or is designed to stir up or sustain hatred or ill will against or towards individuals or groups of people because of:

Gender.
Age.
Colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin.
Membership or presumed membership, of a religious group or of a social or cultural group with perceived religious affiliation.
Sexual orientation.
Transgender identity.
Disability.
Using threatening, abusive or insulting words or conduct both verbal and non-verbal.
Displaying writing or any other item which is threatening, abusive or insulting.

Racism
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club condemns racism in any form, either on or off the pitch. We aim to create and maintain a working and spectating environment free from racial harassment and abuse.

Everyone connected with Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club has a responsibility to prevent racial harassment or abuse.

The club will give their full support to the police in any criminal actions.

All committee members, players and servants of the club have a responsibility to make it clear that such behaviour by any is unacceptable.

Supporters should also note that racist taunts and abusive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated by the club and will be encouraged to condemn and report such behaviour.
Any supporters (home or visiting) behaving in this way will face eviction from the ground and their actions will be reported to the police.

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club fully supports the Show Racism the Red Card Campaign, details of which can be found at www.srtrc.org.incident is defined as any incident that is perceived to be racist by the victim, or any other person.

Racial harassment is defined by Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club to be any verbal, physical, written or visible abuse that is based on a person’s race, ethnic background, colour, nationality, language or cultural background – and is considered to be unwanted, unacceptable and offensive to the person.

Proven racial harassment or abuse will lead to action being taken against spectators and will be reported to the police and may result in a life ban from Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic

Sectarianism
Scottish football fans have earned a word wide reputation for their enthusiastic and good-natured support of the national team. While most fans follow club football in a responsible way, there are occasions where individuals are intent on causing trouble, using football as an excuse for bigoted and unacceptable behaviour.

By working together to remove bigotry from out football grounds we can demonstrate that Scottish football fans and in particular Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football club supporters:

Respect people of all backgrounds and celebrate the multicultural society that Scotland has become in the 21st Century.

Want their football clubs, and the support for their clubs, to reflect the diversity of modern Scottish society.

Are as passionate about their football clubs as they are about their national team.

Code of Conduct for Supporters
The following conduct is prohibited in the Stadium, facilities and areas controlled by Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club.

Behaviour that is unruly, disruptive, threatening, or violent in nature, including verbal or physical harassment of match officials, players, staff, or fans.
Conduct that is illegal.
Conduct that results in damage to the venue or other personal property.
Displaying signs, symbols, images, using language or making gestures that are threatening, abusive, or discriminatory, including based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, ability, and/or sexual orientation.
Displaying signs, symbols, or images for commercial purposes or for electioneering, campaigning, or advocating for or against any candidate, political party, legislative issue, or government action.
Entering or attempting to enter the field, the field track, the tunnel, or any other location other than that permitted by the fan’s ticket or accreditation.
Possession of an unauthorised pyrotechnic device, smoke or fireworks.
Throwing objects of any kind.
Failing to follow requests from venue staff regarding stadium operations, policies, and emergency response procedures.
Declining to promptly return a ball that enters the stands.
Irresponsible use or consumption of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.

Any behaviour that otherwise targets other fans or interferes with other fans’ enjoyment of the game. Any fan who violates any of these provisions may be subject to penalty, including, but not limited to, ejection without refund, loss of ticket privileges for future games and revocation of their season ticket and/or a Football Banning Order.

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who has engaged in harassment of match officials, opposing team members, staff, or other fans or who have otherwise violated this Code of Conduct using social or digital media or other forms of communication.

At all times the supporters shall be encouraged to comply with the club’s position on Discrimination and Unacceptable Conduct.

Prohibited Items & Behaviour
All guests entering the stadium during an event can be subjected to a visual and/or physical inspection, and a bag inspection conducted by Stadium Security. Bonnyrigg Rose does not accept any responsibility for the theft, damage, accidents or losses of personal belongings brought onto the premises. We aim to provide an enjoyable, yet exciting environment for ALL fans attending games.

To achieve that, the following are prohibited:

Abusive, foul, or disruptive language or clothing.
Alcohol and illegal drugs.
Animals (excluding service animals).
Any type of marketing/political material such as pamphlets, product samples, etc.
Clothing containing wires, batteries, or other electronic components.
Explosives, pepper spray, tear gas, etc.
Folding/beach chairs.
Items containing adhesive i.e., Stickers, Decals, etc.
Objects that can be thrown or viewed as projectiles.
Remote controlled aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems (drones).
Smoking of any kind including E-cigarettes & Vaporizers out with designated smoking area and within enclosed buildings within the ground.
Two-way radio devices.
Flags which carry advertising or commercial message and/or contain any abusive or defamatory message.
Unmanned and Remote-Controlled Aircraft Systems.
Water guns, toy/replica weapons, squirt bottles, etc.
Weapons of any kind, fireworks, slingshots, smoke/stink bombs, laser pointers, etc.

At the discretion of Stadium Management, any other item determined to be prohibited.

Any attempt to bring alcohol into the Stadium will be considered a violation of the Code of Conduct and may result in an ejection or refusal of entry, arrested, or tickets being revoked. All persons and/or their belongings are subject to search. Violators of the rules of any laws will be refused admission, asked to leave, or ejected from Stadium property. Bonnyrigg Rose cannot safeguard items which are not permitted to be brought into the stadium.

Please keep in mind that permitted or prohibited items may vary depending on the event. Stadium management will communicate any deviations from the standard house policy as necessary.

Consequences

ANY PERSON ENGAGING IN UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT MAY BE SUBJECT TO ANY, OR A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:

Removal from New Dundas Park or away stadium.
Suspension from attending home matches involving Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club.
Indefinite ban from attending home matches involving Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club.
Suspension or ban from the Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club committee.
Suspension or ban as a Player or Coach from the Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club
Report to the police and possible criminal proceedings.

Responsibility
We would encourage everyone to bring to the club’s attention, any incident or behaviour, of individuals or groups of individuals, deemed to be in breach of this policy.
Whilst it is appreciated that behaviour such as that listed above involves the minority of individuals, we wish to maintain the highest standard on and off the field of play, ensuring that the name Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club is associated with good and sporting behaviour at all times.

Policy Review

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club has made this policy available on the club's official website and keeps this policy under review, with additions or amendments made where deemed appropriate by the club, or under the advice of governing bodies, Police or other relevant bodies.
