Thoughts from the manager on last night's fixture

Can't really describe how I feel after last night as the magnitude of what we have achieved is still sinking in. I am though totally overwhelmed by the number of text messages, phone calls and emails that I have received congratulating the club on this famous victory. People like Gary Locke, Robbie Neilson and many coaches and managers from other teams including the Juniors taking the time to congratulate you means a lot and also shows their class. I must also mention the Dumbarton Manager Steve Aitken, his coaching staff and the Dumbarton supporters who were incredibly gracious in defeat. .

I didn't get much sleep last night I just sat up thinking about the game, what we had achieved and what we have to look forward to. Today its been all about media coverage with TV and radio interviews, certainly not the norm for a junior manager that's for sure. As I stood there with Jonny Stewart and Bob Dickson it all felt very surreal and I felt very aware that we were being pushed to the forefront of the coverage.

The fact of the matter is that I would be nothing without all these players that give me everything they have got every week for the last 18 months, play with a desire, team spirit and so much ability. Nothing without my coaching staff Dave, Whitey, Big Jim and Danielle. Nothing without the committee, notably Charlie, Brendan and Bob and also nothing without the Bonnyrigg supporters who have given us unbelievable support over the same period. The reward for all the hard work that has been put in by everyone was the performance and result last night which over the two games we deserved and we have a fairytale tie against Hibs, the Scottish Cup holders, to look forward to.

Its fantastic for the community of Bonnyrigg and hopefully the club can continue to grow and grow and it will encourage the young kids to keep getting out to play and want to one day play for Bonnyrigg Rose. Due to the number of people who will want to attend the game and also heath and safety it just not possible that the game could be played at New Dundas so moving it is the only option. Preferably Tynecastle for me due to my allegiances, financially for the club but also for the amount of people who will want to share the occasion including Hibs fans with quite a few from Bonnyrigg itself. The powers that be look like they will have the final say on this though.

We must now quickly get our focus back and face a tough replay against Thorniewood at home on Saturday. The pitch was difficult and maybe we should have put the game to bed last week but Thorniewood deserve a lot of credit for the way they played and the spirit they showed and they could have nicked the game at the end. Its similar to the situation we found ourselves with Dumbarton where they have absolutely nothing to lose and the pressure is on us and we have to deal with that.

Thanks again for all your support!

C.mon the Rosey Posey!

All the best!

Robbie
