Match Report Bonnyrigg Rose v Clyde FC 16/03/2024

Rose had lost their last meeting against Clyde F.C in January at ZLX Stadium. Coming into the game, Rose had lost key personnel with Kerr Young injured, Neil Martyniuk suspended, and many of the team suffering from a sickness bug throughout the week, leaving Robbie Horn with limited options, especially in defence.

Robbie Horn made three changes going into the game, bringing in Conor Doan, Ross Gray in the attacking midfield role, and Smart Osadolor upfront. Rose took a quick-fire lead to open the first with Smart finding the back of the net in the first 40 seconds of the game. Clyde would provide chances early, with Jaze Kabia’s effort curling over the bar in the 7th minute and Jordan Allan testing Paddy Martin early in the match. Callum Connolly had the chance to add to Rose's lead after Smart Osadolor challenged Brian Kinnear for a high ball, but Connolly volleyed wide just before the half.

Jordan Allan leveled the game for the Bully Wee after scoring a header in the box from a Liam Scullion delivery in the 57th minute. New addition Aaron Dunsmore, who has been versatile in Rose’s setup in recent weeks, provided a close effort with his shot parried away in the bottom left corner by Brian Kinnear in the 64th minute.

Jordan Allan provided the winning goal for Clyde in the 70th minute with a tap-in front of the net after a handling error from Paddy Martin in his box from a high ball, securing his second goal of the afternoon. Ross Gray would come close to scoring in the 76th minute, with his shot narrowly deflected wide by Clyde’s defense. Martin would deny an Allan hat-trick with an acrobatic save with 5 minutes to go.

Rose will look to put a tough run of form behind them, facing Dumbarton F.C next Saturday.
