Rose succumbed to defeat against Stenhousemuir.

Match Report written by Gregor Bruce

Robbie Horn made three changes from the previous week at Spartans away, introducing new signing Aaron Dunsmore at left wing, Jonny Stewart in midfield, and Keiran McGachie up front. In the previous meeting this season last December at Ochilview Park, Rose fell short 1-0, with Matty Aiken scoring.

Stenhousemuir had the first chances of the afternoon with a free kick from James Berry, firing just over Paddy Martin’s goal. Kerr Young sustained an injury in the 19th minute, leading to Callum Connolly being deployed early in the first half. Debutant Aaron Dunsmore came close to scoring, combining with Scott Mercer through an overlap, but the attempt was saved by the Stenny stopper.

Dean Watson had Rose’s best chance of the first half after a good piece of team play, his header just wide of the left post, concluding a competitive first half. Watson played through Lee Currie in a one-on-one, but the pass had too much weight for Darren Jamieson to claim.

Rose put the pressure on later in the second half, with Keiran McGachie and Dean Watson’s efforts being saved by Darren Jamieson at his near post. With little clear chances for both sides in the afternoon, the last 10 minutes presented an exciting period with both teams sharing a plethora of opportunities.

Stenhousmuir had a chance denied at the outside of the post, with substitutes Bradley Rodden and Adam Brown combining. Matty Aiken scored a header, breaking the deadlock for Stenhousemuir in the last ten minutes, with a corner worked to the back post from Bradley Rodden. Reis Peggie had Rose’s last chance of the afternoon with a long-ranged effort claimed by Darren Jamison, concluding a frustrating afternoon for Rose.

Bonnyrigg Rose plays The Spartans F.C at home on Tuesdays and Elgin City away next Saturday as the NDP faithful look for positive results in a busy week of football.

Lets get behind the team in this action packed week. C'Mon the Rose!
