Rose were unable to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as the Loons ran away with the points.

Rose welcomed the visit of Forfar Athletic to New Dundas Park with both teams having mixed results in the last few games in the cinch Scottish League 2. This was Rose' first game in 4 weeks at their home ground after a few matches on the road over the last few weeks.

Chances were limited in the first-half and a lot of the play for Bonnyrigg came through Taylor Sutherland which allowed for Rose to play through the channels early and conjure up chances.

The Forfar attack was lead by Euan Mutale who was accompanied by Mark Whatley and Josh Skelly who all created chances early for the Loons, linking up well inside the final third.

A Kerr Young header from a well worked Rose corner was cleared off the line by Whatley in the 24th minute, Rose's closest opportunity on the afternoon.

Sutherland showed some good skill to carve out an opportunity soon after but his effort was denied by Marc McCallum

Forfar did break the deadlock through Marc Whatley shortly before the break after a double save effort from Paddy Martin wasn't enough to prevent the Loons from going in front.

The Visitors started the second half the better side, leading a good press on Bonnyrigg Rose which set the intensity for the second half.

Forfar remained a solid unit as they defended their 18 yard well throughout the second half with Marc McCallum commanding his area well to prevent any Rose opportunity from a set-piece situation.

An impact substitute in Ryan Paterson would secure the 3 points for the visitors after he rounded the goalkeeper to score the second for Athletic with not long left to play.

Despite the shortcomings of this afternoon, Rose will look to bounce back as they face off in a mid-table clash on Tuesday evening against East Fife at New Dundas Park.
