Rose back to winning ways against Clyde

Bonnyrigg Rose were back in the win column on Saturday afternoon as they secured all 3 points against Clyde at New Dundas Park.

Rose took an early lead just 3 minutes in as Robbie McGale breezed past two opposition defenders before putting the cross in for Taylor Sutherland to prod home, his first Rose goal in his first Rose start.

They would only be ahead for a matter of moments however as Clyde equalised just 7 minutes later, Martin Rennie latching onto Conor Young's cross to bring Clyde level.

Rennie would go close again, rising highest from a corner but his header came back off the post, and it wouldn't be the only time the 29-year-old would hit the woodwork.

Clyde would continue a good period of play with Alex King making a driving run through the middle before seeing his powerful effort palmed into safety by Paddy Martin.

Their good play would be reward just before the break though as Ji Stevenson rifled home following a stramash in the box from a corner, putting home the rebound after Rennie again hit the post.

The late goal in the first-half would have given Robbie Horn a lot to think about at half-time, and the team reacted in the right fashion in the second-half.

Rose needed an early goal and they did just that, and it was another first Rose goal for one of the new signings as Liam Buchanan picked up some good space in the box to get on the end of the cross and put Rose level.

Rose would continue to control the game in the second period and they would eventually get the winning goal they were looking for, Taylor Sutherland getting his second of the game as he latched onto a long ball and rounded the keeper before slotting it home to secure the win for Bonnyrigg Rose.

Rose will be turning their attention to the Scottish Cup next weekend as they make the long trip up north to take Highland League side Fraserburgh in the second round.
