After a week of inaction the Rose are back to league duty this weekend as they make the long trip to Peterhead for the first ever encounter between the two sides.

The Blue Toon did play last weekend in the third round of the SPFL Trophy and they picked up a good win to newly promoted League 1 side Annan Athletic at Galabank, earning a place in the last 16 of the cup competition in the process where they will host Championship side Dundee United. They will be looking to get back to winning ways after back to back defeats in their last two league encounters by Stranraer and newly promoted Spartans, after what was a good start to their league campaign with 7 points from a possible 9.

It has been a busy close season for our hosts on Saturday with 12 new signings in all before the end of the summer transfer window, after a season which saw long time incumbent Jim McInally and then Davie Robertson depart before joint caretaker player-managers Ryan Strachan and Jordan Brown were given their roles on a permanent basis before their four year tenure in League 1 ended. Perhaps the most eye catching of all of their signings is prolific marksman Rory McAllister, who Blue Toon supporters will hope that he can replicate the form of his previous spell which saw him find the net on no less than 197 occasions.

The Rose for their part will make the trip up north undaunted after a resounding league victory on their last outing at home to Elgin 5-1 and looking to preserve their 100% record on the road this season. It was a welcome return to the squad last time out for skipper Jonny Stewart after his hand injury and he did manage to get minutes on the pitch last weekend for his own testimonial match. Manager Robbie Horn will have almost a full playing squad to choose from for Saturday's game as more players return from injury.

Saturday's encounter promises to be an intriguing inaugural encounter between the two sides, as the Blue Toon look to replicate their SPFL Trust form in the league while the Rose will look to maintain their place at the summit of cinch League 2. Saturday's match will be refereed by Ross Clark and he will be assisted by Craig Ferguson and Steven Spence.
