Alieu Faye capped off a player of the match performance to get the winning goal at Station Park

It was more joy on the road for the Rose on Saturday as Robbie Horn's men put on a superb team performance to overcome Forfar 2-1. Rose made the perfect start at Station Park by winning a penalty with just ten minutes on the clock. Some determined play by Alieu Faye to chase a lost cause and get in behind the defender before being fouled resulted in the referee Gavin Duncan pointing to the spot. Neil Martyniuk stepped up and done what he does best by tucking the penalty away to fire Rose ahead.

There were further chances for Faye and Martyniuk respectively but neither could add to the lead. Paddy Martin was called into action after 38 minutes when the lively Mutale got a strike away which the keeper palmed away and then quickly got up to gather the ball to stop it from crossing the line.

Into the second half and the game was being played at a frantic pace with both teams seeing a lot of the ball without either keeper being tested. It would be Forfar that would hit back after 65 minutes when Morrison headed in a free kick. That lead wouldn't last long as only a minute later Alieu was played through on goal, he held off the defender and kept his composure to round McCallum in the Forfar goal before tapping it into the empty net.

A few minutes after the Rose goal, Forfar's afternoon got worse as Robson was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on half way. Forfar, despite being a man down did pile the pressure on the Rose defence for the final 10 or so minutes but the lads remained solid and repelled everything thrown at them to hold out for another massive three points on the road.

That win takes us up to 2nd in the cinch League Two table only behind leaders Dumbarton on goal difference.

Next up for the the Rose is the visit of Elgin City this Saturday.
