A 2-0 win against Clyde ensures the 3 points return to Midlothian

It was success on the road on Saturday as Rose took all three points back to Midlothian after an impressive performance and 2-0 win over Clyde.

Dean Watson and Smart Osadolor returned to the starting eleven to lead the line, there was also a place on the bench for Conor Doan following an injury sustained against Kilmarnock B.

It was Rose that started the match on the front foot with Robbie McGale in particular posing a threat down Clyde’s left hand side. Despite all the early Rose possession, it was the hosts that came closest to opening the scoring. Erik Sula got on the end of a Ross Forbes corner but his volley went inches over Paddy Martin’s cross bar. Rose had a decent chance of their own shortly after as a McGale cross just evaded Ross Gray in the middle but it did find Reis Peggie at the back post but he couldn’t hit the target with his first time effort.

Rose were forced into an early change with only half an hour played as Ross Gray had to come off to be replaced by Jason Jarvis. With the first half looking destined to come to a close without any goals, it was the aforementioned Jason Jarvis who would put the Rose ahead. The Clyde defence failed to clear a dangerous ball into their box with it eventually falling to JJ who made no mistake by slotting it into the bottom corner for his first goal for the club.

Rose started the second half much the same as the first, looking to impose themselves on the game and go in search of another goal. Lee Currie was first to try and find it as he picked up a failed clearance and with Parry off his line he tried to lob the keeper but couldn’t get quite enough on the strike to find the target. Just after the hour mark, Smart Osadolor done brilliantly down the right hand side to cut the ball back across goal to Dean Watson, unfortunately Deano’s effort flew over the bar.

With 70 minutes on the clock, Clyde almost made Rose pay for not increasing their lead as substitute Malcom found himself completely unmarked at the back post but he couldn’t hit the target with his header from only 6 yards out.

Watson would have one final chance for Rose as he done well on the edge of the box to work space for a shot which stung the palms of Parry before being cleared to safety. That was Dean’s last action of the match as he went off to a standing ovation and chants of “Deano, Deano, Deano” from the travelling faithful who clearly appreciated the efforts of the front man. On in his place was Bradley Barrett, who made his long awaited return from injury off the bench the week prior at home to Dumbarton with an impressive cameo.

If last week was impressive, that was nothing on what was to follow. After JJ came off the bench to put Rose ahead, it was Brad’s turn to be super sub as he pounced on a poor clearance from Parry and from 25 yards out he brilliantly lifted the ball over the back peddling keeper and into the net to send the travelling supporters into raptures and ensure the three points were heading back to Boomtown.

Next up for the Rose is the visit of Stranraer to NDP on Saturday 19th August.
