Rose host Edinburgh City in final pre season fixture

Saturday afternoon at the Boomtown Bernabeu, where else would you rather be? Join us as we welcome cinch League One side Edinburgh City to Midlothian in our third and final pre season fixture.

Preparations for our first competitive game of the season against Inverness began with a 2-1 win away to Pollok before a 3-0 defeat to Falkirk on Tuesday evening. Despite the score line, there were plenty of positives to take from the midweek game against the Bairns. A brilliantly worked team goal before an unstoppable free kick had John McGlynn’s side ahead at half time, however Rose did also threaten the Falkirk goal on a couple of occasions. There was even more reason for optimism in the second half, albeit Falkirk dominated possession, Rose remained defensively well organised whilst also creating a handful of chances. The best of which fell to Kerr Young whose header from a Doan free kick came agonisingly back off the post. Only one momentary lapse in concentration in the dying embers of the game prevented a 2nd half clean sheet, it allowed Falkirk to break away, Paddy Martin saving the initial strike before the rebound was put away to make it 3 with the last kick of the ball. Overall a good test for the lads against a strong, full time team who will no doubt be right up at the top end of the League One table come May next year.

Focus quickly shifts to this Saturday and another opportunity to get valuable minutes in the legs. Another tough test awaits in the form of Edinburgh City, who are buoyed by the recent return to their traditional roots. The Citizens played their first pre season game last Saturday as they hosted Hibernian at Meadowbank. Goals from Innes Murray and Ryan Shanley had them 2-1 up at the break after Hibs pulled one back. The Premiership side completed the come back in the 2nd half, going on to eventually win 4-2.

The Capital side have lost a couple of key players during the summer in Robbie Mutch and John Robertson but Alan Maybury has added some experience to his squad in recent weeks. Robbie Leitch and Russell McLean have both made the move to Meadowbank as Edinburgh look to build on last seasons mid table finish in cinch League One.

Saturday’s game at NDP kicks off at 2pm and PATG entry is £10/£5/U12’s free (with a paying adult). Still on your summer holidays? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, you can watch all of the action live on Rose TV. Buy your stream costing £10 here - Rose TV
