Thoughts from the manager on the game over the weekend

We are still in the draw for later on today in the big Scottish Cup and when we went behind with less than 20 minutes to go to a wonder strike I have to say I'm happy that we still are. Over the course of the game though I thought we controlled the game for long spells without creating enough clear cut chances against a well organised Turriff side. It surprised me a bit that they sat in being the home team but to their credit they defended well and it could have worked for them.

I keep saying that you have to call upon everyone in your squad over the course of the season to be successful and it was Fraser's turn to step up to the plate Saturday with a great header after a good cross from Kiddo(got it in for you big man!). After that we pushed for winner but the ball just didn't drop to us to the box. Replay at home next week and I'm hoping after nervy game on Saturday with both teams feeling each other out it might be a more open game. Turrifff will fancy their chances too but I certainly think we can play better and with a big crowd behind us I'm sure we can perform to the levels we know we can and progress to the next round.

Wayne will be back available selection and we also have Scottie back from his trip to America. The wee man was piped after his 15 minute cameo on Saturday but offers us something different going forward so it's great to have him back and I'm sure we'll have him back to full fitness soon. Obviously there is a few laughs when you go away as a team and it was an enjoyable trip but the funniest moment would have to be wee Scottie going down in the second half! The bench were all up in anticipation as Ruaridh played the ball through only to see the wee man hit the deck with nowhere near him!! Cries of "PENALTY!" from Chico but that was just the Gin & Tonic kicking in!! Been caught on the highlights too - well done Vince!

Got to finish off by mentioning the sad passing of a club legend in Billy Durie. I like many will be in attendance at the great mans funeral on Wednesday to pay my respects. Since I've been at the club he's always been there for a chat and very supportive and always had time to say hello and chat to my wife and kids which they very much appreciated too. It's been great to see his family at the last couple of games too which has been a motivation for the players. Rest in peace Billy.

All the best.
