Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days

Been a very good week for us with two home wins, two clean sheets and goals scored.

Against Broughty I thought we were excellent and in the first half in particular I thought it was the best we have played for quite some time. The only disappointing factor for me was how long it took us to get the first goal. It was the same against Penicuik and we really have to take our chances when we are in top in games or we will be punished.

We didn't reach the same levels of performance in the second half but we still controlled the game and got the goals we needed to get the victory. The goals were shared out on Saturday which was is always good and overall it was a great team performance with everyone contributing including the subs. Kingy picked up a knee injury and we hope it's not too serious and he is back in action soon.

Against a well organised and energetic Camelon I felt we were poor on the night and the opposition have to take some credit for that in the way that they performed but for me we just didn't hit the levels of the previous two games. We were always in control of the game apart from right at the end and I don't think Michael had a save to make all night. At the same time we didn't create enough either and didn't make their goalkeeper work anywhere near enough for the amount of possession we had. It was all just a bit flat and there was no real tempo to our play which might be as a result of the number of games we have played in the opening period of the season.

The most important thing though was getting another 3 points and players deserve a bit of credit for grinding that out. We are up to second now and though it very early in the season it's so important for us to be up there at this point putting pressure on. If we progress in the Scottish Cup we are going to be playing catch up with our league fixtures so it's important we don't slip up at the moment. We face a really difficult trip to Lochee on Saturday who have started the season pretty well and will perhaps feel they were a little hard done by last week away at Linlithgow.. Again they have good experienced players, an excellent manager in George Shields and top coaching staff in Lee Wilkie and Ray Farningham. We will have to improve on last nights performance if we are to pick up another 3 points.

All the best!

Robbie
