Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days.

It was bit of a mixed week last week, what with the disappointing result against Newtongrange in the cup and then another great result for us in the league on Saturday against Musselnurgh.

It's always disappointing to lose to your rivals but I think it was more the manner we lost that was disappointing. I thought bar a really good save from Michael we were in control in the first half and with the sending off you would expect us to go on and win the game but it wasn't to be. We lost a poor goal at the start of the second half which was well finished to be fair and from then on Newtongrange sat back and defended but always carried a threat on the break.

We huffed and puffed and had plenty of possession but did not create enough clear cut chances, yet Kieran Renton still had to pull off two great saves and Deano hit the post with a free kick. To their credit Newtongrange kept a good shape with 10 men, defended really well and hit us on the break late on. I read a report after the game saying they ran out worthy winners. Not sure about about that as we had the lions share of possession and more shots at goal which we should have against 10 men, but ultimately we were poor by our standards in the second half and too many players underperformed. It's not often I have said that this season.

As has been the case a few times this season we bounced back after a poor result with a great win on Saturday against Musselburgh. I felt though there was not a lot in the game first half, but we were slightly the better team having created the better chances yet we found ourselves behind at half time. At half time we just stressed to the players to just keep going and not to get frustrated as a goal would come and Kerr got a his first goal for the club after hitting the bar earlier. Wayne notched the second after good play from Al and Scottie and we got a bit lucky with the deflection from Deano's free kick at the third, but I don't think anyone could argue that over the piece we deserved it.

Again the players deserve great credit after Wednesday to pick themselves up and also to turn round the game on Saturday. That's character and a will to win and yes at times we might not play great, but you can never fault the players commitment and effort for the club. It's that commitment, effort and character from the players which has got the Bonnyrigg supporters right behind them this season and that support is going to be so important in the coming few weeks.

It's a massive game Wednesday followed by a difficult trip to top of the table Dundonald on Saturday. Linlithgow are a real top team with quality players but so are we - the league table doesn't lie and we are where we are on merit. It should be a great game and one that we are all looking forward to.

All the best!

Robbie
