Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days

Sorry for the late Manager's view this week, a few beers on Sunday watching the football and training last night has been part of the delay!

It was another difficult game for us on Saturday away up at Broughty who were a good side and in my opinion in a false position in the league. With Deano and Jonny B missing it meant a re-shuffle again at the back with Moyesy coming back into the side after a good few weeks out and Adam also returned to the side after a ban. First half we just couldn't get going, I thought we were second best to far too many balls and their midfield were dictating the play. That being said we were still creating chances and but for some poor finishing we might have been level at half time. As it was we were behind to a great free kick from Jamie Winter.

The players got a blast at half time, I haven't had to do it many times since I've been at the club but I felt it was needed Saturday as we were flat and off the pace. To their credit the players responded and again showed great character to turn round a deficit into another massive three points for us. We showed a lot more desire second half and there was a high tempo to our play which put Broughty under pressure and we got the goals we deserved. We could have maybe killed the game off and were left having to defend a few set pieces late on but for me we looked strong at the back and saw out the game well. The back four and goalkeeper were excellent again with the skipper getting his customary goal and big Moyesy putting in a big performance on his return. The midfield got to grips with the game second half as did the front three who put in there usual hard working shift.

We now have a big run of games coming up starting with Newtongrange away in the cup tomorrow and Musselburgh at home in the league on Saturday. both of which will be really tough games. Its the old cliche though of just take one game at a time and being a local derby we know Alan Miller will have Newtongrange fired up for the game. They have started to pick up good results recently and in my opinion have one of the strongest squads in the region so it's going to be another big test for us. Its one we look forward too though and as a player and manager you want to be involved in big games.

All the best!

Robbie
