Thoughts from the manager over the past seven days

It's been a very frustrating couple of weeks with the game being off again on Saturday. Going forward I think the league have to go look at providing provisional fixture if like Saturday a game is called off. There are so many fixtures still to play and the way it's now looking there could be 2 midweek games a week if we are successful. It was crazy on Saturday both ourselves and Musselburgh's games were off and we still have to play each other twice in the league and for me it was a great chance to get another fixture played. I know it can take a bit of rushing about to get the game organised on the morning of a game but it has been done before and I'm sure will be done again.

As it was we organised another training session for the players at the Corn Exchange on Saturday for the second week running as all the local astro turf pitches were fully booked which prevented us from being able to organise a friendly again. Not an ideal scenario to have before a big Scottish Cup tie and it will be 3 weeks since we have played a fixture when we pitch up on Saturday. The players have worked really hard in training though and are desperate to get playing again so I have no fears regarding fitness going into the game and all the squad are fit and available for selection. That means there are decisions have to be made for the match day squad of 16 which is never easy for a manager but is better problem to have rather having players missing.

Dave and Jim took training again on Saturday while I headed through to watch Pollok away at Shettleston. I thought Pollok were the better team and as I said last week they have dangerous players going forward and kept a clean sheet for the second week running. I think it's going to be a great game, both teams like to play football and are hard working so it might come down to a bit of luck on the day. I'm really looking forward to the game and its a great test for the players and also myself as a young manager to pit your wits against a top team from a different region

Here's hoping the weather is good for the rest of the week.

All the best!

Robbie
