Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days

Another good solid performance from the players on Saturday which extended our unbeaten run for another week.

Both clubs deserve credit in taking the initiative to switch the game to Bonnyrigg with Broughty's park being unplayable. Our committee again worked hard to get everything organised within 24 hours notice to ensure the game was well advertised on social media, the pies were ordered and the drink was stocked up! Then getting the pitch ready too which again stood up well even though it was heavy going.

Games like Saturday can either win or lose you leagues and that was emphasised to the players before the game. Games where everyone expects you to win at home can sometimes make players take the foot off the gas or sometimes add a bit more pressure but I think the last two games the players have shown the right attitude, plenty heart and also desire to make sure we have achieved the right results. This time in the season when the pitches are heavy and the weather is not great it's all about getting results, yes we want to play good football but the most important thing is to get the 3 points.

The game itself I thought Broughty were a strong experienced side who were difficult to break down and I have no doubt they will start to climb the league soon under the guidance of Keith Gibson and Ray Farningham who are excellent coaches. It was pretty even for the first half hour before I thought we started to look the stronger of the two teams as the half wore on. We missed a couple of good chances first half but we didn't let it affect us and I thought we looked strong in the second half and deserved our victory. The first goal was typical Wayne and he showed great feet at the penalty which Deano stuck away. The third was the best bit of football in the match and was stuck away well by Kieran wrapping up a good team performance with contributions from the subs too.

Archie pulled up Saturday with a tight hamstring but we don't think it's too serious and should be back in contention this week while I have also added Ross Drummond to the squad who I know well from my time at Berwick. Ross, who made his debut Saturday as a sub, can play anywhere down the left and has good ability, a great attitude, pace and is definitely an excellent addition to the squad. The signing brings up our numbers to 18 again and I had to leave two out on Saturday which is never easy but both Dylan and Chris took it well. As I keep telling the whole squad we are going to need them all in the coming months especially when the midweek games kick in along with injuries and suspensions. I have confidence in every one of them and would not be scared to chuck any of them in no matter what the game and if we are going to be successful we need them all onside no matter if they are playing, a sub or not stripped.

Scottish Cup draw today and I think it's safe to say our tie against Pollok is the tie of the round. Both teams are big junior clubs with great history and hopefully it will be a great game with a big crowd. Pollok have got good experienced ex senior players in their ranks and currently sit 4th in the West Super League so yes we might have got an easier tie but we are at home and to win leagues and cups you have beat the best sides at some point so it's a great test for us.

Downfield away this Saturday in the East of Scotland which again will be a difficult tie with them flying high at the top of the North Division. I'll look to freshen up the team a bit so there might be a few changes but as I said earlier that I have every faith in this group of players and I'm sure they won't let us down.

All the best!
