Thoughts from the manager on the last seven days

I was disappointed after the game on Saturday as I felt we let ourselves down in the second half. Myself and Davie take some of the responsibility for that as we praised the players for their efforts in the first half and asked for the same again and a hunger similar to what we showed in the second half against Glenrothes. Looking back at the team talk at half time it was too laid back in the changing room and a sense of job done which resulted in a slow start to the second and a below par performance. Myself and Davie are still young managers learning our trade and a repeat of Saturday won't happen again.

The players also have to take responsibility for the second half too but I can't be too critical of them as they have been immense so far this season. The first half was another example of this and we played at a tempo that Montrose struggled to deal with and passed the ball around really well. A committee member from Montrose commented to me at a half time that it was the best performance he had seen from a Junior team in a long time, I'm sure he was probably saying something different after the second half! To their credit Montrose stuck to their task and made it a lot more difficult second half plus there was a strong wind against us and a low sun which was giving the players problems but these were factors for both teams and not excuses really.

The game itself was won in the first 20 minutes and we scored some really good goals first half. A great delivery from Adam and good header from big Moyesey to open the scoring was then followed by the Scott Gray show!! The wee man set up three goals which included a great cross with his right and one with his left and notched a goal himself. He also had an assist for the 6th goal with a cut back for Fraser's goal. I think it's safe to say that I'm going to have a selection headache this Saturday with probably the full squad available for selection.

Looking forward to Saturday it's a massive game for both teams and will give me a good indication of where we are at again. No disrespect to any of the teams that we have beaten during the run we have been on but Bo'ness are a top top team and at the start of the season would have been one of my tips to be up there come the end of the season. They are now starting to get players back to fitness and have a lot of experience in their squad and it will be a big test for us. I know both Alan McGonigle and Darren Gribben from my time at Berwick and Alan will have them organised and Darren will be a big goal threat too.

That said we are full of confidence and belief at the moment and with a big performance and a bit of luck that you always need in the big games I'm hopeful that we can take the three points. I'm also hoping for a big Bonnyrigg following too. We've had great support at both our home and away games this season which the players and coaching staff really appreciate.

All the best!

Robbie
